Land and Location

Gaia School is located on 50 hectares of lush secondary jungle on the Nicoya Peninsula, creating a learning environment where nature is not just nearby—it is part of everyday life. The campus includes natural springs, winding forest trails, and a wide variety of fruit trees, offering students constant opportunities to explore, observe, and learn from the living landscape around them.

Wildlife is a regular presence on campus; it is common for students to hear howler monkeys calling through the forest canopy or to spot white-faced capuchin monkeys, birds, butterflies, and other native species during the school day.

Situated about 25 minutes from Santa Teresa, the campus provides a quiet, protected environment where children can grow up connected to the rhythms of the natural world while still being part of the vibrant coastal community of the Nicoya Peninsula.

The surrounding forest and open spaces allow Gaia to integrate outdoor learning into daily life—whether students are walking the trails, studying ecosystems, working in the garden, or simply playing under the trees. The land itself is one of the school’s greatest teachers, shaping a culture of curiosity, stewardship, and respect for the natural world.
